Maison F

[ 2013 ]

On the ground floor, the brasserie atmosphere transforms into a cocktail bar as night falls. Customers can enjoy cocktails and finger food in a room slightly raised from the street level, which opens to the outside through large windows. At the entrance, behind a reception desk in oak, the head waiter takes care of the new arrivals.

The white or anthracite walls are accentuated with picture rails. The geometric tile flooring spreads across the herringbone parquet from a large concrete bar that invites conviviality. The glass spherical light fixtures fixed to the ceiling reflect in the mirrors and provide uniform, diffused lighting. In the evening, dim lighting gives the space a more intimate atmosphere.

On the first floor, the restaurant. As on the ground floor, we find the same design language on the floors and walls. However, the lighting changes. The lower ceiling immediately gives a sense of intimacy, enhanced by a light source unique to each table. A slab of aerated concrete (Butong) stretches above the heads: a raw surface or constellation, depending on the mood of the head waiter.

Through the use of materials—wood, tiles, concrete—and the staging of light, we rethink the codes of dining. Between classicism and modernity, the space ultimately becomes timeless.
