Papier Tigre, a brand specializing in contemporary stationery items, is renovating its showroom on Rue des Filles du Calvaire in the Marais district, right in the heart of Paris. The space serves as a combination of a retail area, a section dedicated to custom-made products, and a backroom workshop.
The modularity of the space is the guiding principle of the architectural concept developed by Cent15 architecture. The architects' aim is to find a clear solution that highlights Papier Tigre products through the simple use of raw materials. They transform the existing space and give it a new identity that conveys an image of renewal.
The open plan emphasizes the various product display modules that inhabit it. These modules are mobile for better distribution and user appropriation of the space, and interchangeable to easily rearrange the product presentations.
Adapted to the store's existing slope, the modules bring a dynamic element to the project—a true ascent for the visitor as they progress deeper into the showroom. The furniture, a key element of the design, creates a layered space that blends architecture with sculpture.
The architecture proposes a journey—a visitor’s path thoughtfully designed from the street. Passersby can identify the store from the outside thanks to the newly enlarged and lightened façade. It removes the boundary between the exterior and interior, inviting the passerby to step inside the shop.
